Peer Review Process

FLUENCY: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris applies a double-blind peer review process. All manuscripts are evaluated by reviewers who have relevant expertise in the field of English language education.

The peer review process consists of the following stages:

  • Manuscript Submission: Authors submit manuscripts through the official FLUENCY Online Journal System (OJS). The editorial team checks whether the manuscript meets the journal's submission requirements and focus and scope.
  • Initial Editorial Screening: The editor conducts an initial assessment of the manuscript's relevance, originality, academic quality, and compliance with the Author Guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements or fall outside the journal's scope may be rejected before peer review.
  • Reviewer Assignment: Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers are selected based on their academic background and research expertise.
  • Double-Blind Review: The identities of the authors and reviewers are kept confidential. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript independently based on its originality, relevance, methodological quality, findings, discussion, academic writing, and contribution to English language education.
  • Editorial Decision: Based on the reviewers' comments and recommendations, the editor makes one of the following decisions: • Accept • Minor Revision • Major Revision • Reject. The final decision is made by the editorial team and is not determined solely by the recommendation of an individual reviewer.
  • Revision: If revisions are required, authors must revise the manuscript according to the reviewers' and editor's comments. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.
  • Final Decision and Publication: Once the manuscript has satisfactorily addressed the reviewers' and editor's comments, the editor makes the final decision regarding acceptance. Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, proofreading, and publication.

The review process normally takes approximately 2 to 6 weeks, depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the revision process.

FLUENCY publishes two issues annually, in February and August.
