Aims

FLUENCY: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris is a peer-reviewed academic journal that provides a platform for research, critical discussion, and innovative practices in English language education. The journal publishes theoretical, empirical, and practice-oriented studies that contribute to the development of English language teaching and learning in diverse educational contexts.

FLUENCY welcomes studies that examine English language education from linguistic, pedagogical, technological, psychological, sociocultural, and interdisciplinary perspectives. The journal particularly encourages research addressing emerging developments in English education, including digital technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and other innovations in teaching and learning.

The journal serves researchers, lecturers, teachers, teacher educators, students, curriculum developers, and other professionals engaged in English language education at local, national, and international levels.

SCOPE

FLUENCY welcomes original research articles, review articles, and conceptual or theoretical studies related to English language education, including but not limited to:

  • English Language Teaching and Learning: Teaching approaches, learning strategies, classroom practices, EFL/ESL education, and innovative pedagogies. 
  • Language Skills and Learning: Listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, academic English, and language learning and acquisition. 
  • Linguistics and Language Studies: Applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, Critical Discourse Analysis, corpus linguistics, and language use. 
  • Curriculum, Materials, and Assessment: Curriculum development, instructional design, teaching materials, textbook development, language testing, assessment, feedback, and evaluation. 
  • Educational Technology and Artificial Intelligence: Technology-enhanced language learning, CALL, MALL, digital literacy, online and blended learning, educational platforms, Artificial Intelligence, generative AI, Large Language Models, AI-assisted language learning, and emerging technologies. 
  • Teacher Education and Professional Development: Pre-service and in-service teacher education, teacher development, teacher identity, beliefs, cognition, professional practice, mentoring, and teacher competence. 
  • ESP, EAP, and Professional English: English for Specific Purposes, English for Academic Purposes, English for Occupational Purposes, vocational English, and English for professional communication. 
  • Multilingualism, Culture, and Identity: Multilingualism, translanguaging, intercultural communication, Global Englishes, World Englishes, language and identity, language ideology, and language policy. 
  • Inclusive and Contextualized English Education: Inclusive education, differentiated instruction, special educational needs, accessibility, culturally responsive pedagogy, Islamic and religious educational contexts, rural and urban education, and other diverse learning contexts. 
  • Emerging Issues in English Language Education: Interdisciplinary and innovative studies addressing current challenges, developments, and future directions in English language education.

FLUENCY particularly welcomes interdisciplinary studies that connect English language education with technology, Artificial Intelligence, linguistics, education, psychology, culture, communication, and other relevant fields.

Studies are considered within the scope of FLUENCY when their primary focus or contribution is clearly connected to English language education, English language teaching and learning, teacher education, or the use of English in educational contexts.
