AI Usage Policy
Digi-Meta recognizes the growing role of generative AI and large language models (LLMs) in academic writing and research. To maintain transparency, originality, and accountability, the following policy applies to all submissions:
Permitted Use
Authors may use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Grammarly, or similar) to assist with language editing, grammar checking, and improving readability. AI tools may also be used to assist with literature searching, data analysis, or code generation, provided the output is verified and validated by the author(s).
Disclosure Requirement
Authors must disclose any significant use of AI tools in the manuscript's Acknowledgment or Methods section, specifying which tool was used and for what purpose (e.g., "The authors used [tool name] to assist with language editing of the manuscript draft").
Prohibited Use
- AI tools must not be listed as an author or co-author, as authorship requires accountability that AI cannot bear.
- AI-generated content must not be submitted as original research findings, data, or analysis without human verification.
- Authors are prohibited from using AI to fabricate data, citations, or references. Fabricated or "hallucinated" citations will be treated as a serious ethical violation, subject to rejection or retraction.
Author Responsibility
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the entire manuscript, including any content produced with AI assistance. The use of AI does not reduce the author's accountability for the final submitted work.
Peer Review and AI
Reviewers and editors are prohibited from uploading confidential manuscript content into public AI tools, in order to protect author confidentiality and prevent data leakage to third-party AI training systems.
Violations
Undisclosed or prohibited use of AI, once identified, will be handled according to Digi-Meta's Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement, and may result in rejection, revision requirements, or post-publication correction/retraction.
This policy will be reviewed periodically to reflect evolving standards in AI usage across scholarly publishing (e.g., COPE and ICMJE guidance).
