Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Geospasial: Jurnal Geografi undergo a double-blind peer review process, where the identities of both authors and reviewers are strictly concealed throughout the evaluation. The complete review workflow proceeds systematically through the following sequential stages:
Desk Review (Initial Screening):
- The Editorial Board evaluates the submitted manuscript for alignment with the journal's focus and scope, adherence to author guidelines, basic academic quality, and similarity index limits.
- Manuscripts failing to meet these baseline criteria are either returned to the author for preliminary formatting adjustments or rejected directly without further review.
Peer Review Stage:
- Manuscripts passing the initial screening are forwarded to at least two independent expert reviewers in the fields of geography, spatial analysis, or geospatial studies.
- Reviewers evaluate the manuscript’s scientific contribution, methodology, data validity, and clarity within a timeframe of 2–3 weeks.
Reviewer Recommendation:
- Accepted: The manuscript is suitable for publication as submitted.
- Accepted with Minor Revisions: The manuscript is acceptable once minor contextual, structural, or formatting corrections are addressed.
- Accepted with Major Revisions: Substantive inadequacies in data analysis, research methodology, theoretical context, or structure must be significantly revised.
- Rejected: The manuscript is declined due to fundamental scientific flaws or insufficient novelty.
Revision Stage:
- Authors receiving revision decisions are provided with reviewer feedback and a Revision Response Form.
- Authors are given 1 week to complete minor revisions and up to 3 weeks for major revisions.
- The revised manuscript must be resubmitted alongside the completed response form detailing point-by-point changes made.
Final Decision:
The Editorial Board re-evaluates the revised manuscript to verify that all reviewer comments and concerns have been adequately addressed.
If major revisions were required, the manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers for secondary evaluation. The Editorial Board holds the final authority to accept or reject the revised submission.
Proofreading & Copyediting:
Accepted manuscripts undergo professional copyediting and proofreading to ensure high linguistic standards and proper graphical presentation.
Production & Publication Confirmation:
- The final PDF galley proof is sent to the corresponding author for final layout verification and typo correction.
- Upon receiving the author’s formal confirmation, the Editorial Secretary proceeds with online publication and assigns the manuscript to the scheduled print issue.
